Can anyone help with this last one? 35d a mark added to a letter to indicate a special pronunciation? Have -i-c-i-i- Thank you in anticipation.
Does anyone else agree that the new approach in this crossword is very refreshing. I like the fact that some obvious answers are sneaked in but one tends to over complicate and miss these through expecting greater difficulty.
The fact that it's not always possible to "google" for an immediate answer is without doubt a plus.
The answers to almost every clue of some GK puzzles (in other papers), can make it purely a long-winded and often boring affair.
I think we all want to excercise our minds to a certain extent when seeking solutions, and I reckon Kate Mepham is rapidly approaching the level of excellence previously displayed by her father.
I absolutely agree. If a crossword is just an hour or so of online searching it becomes a chore. The good balance Kate Mepham is managing is much more enjoyable and
allows for some real vocabulary input.
