MM Link Game Solutions Feb 2007 [Week 1]

The sealed envelope containing the chosen links of Barbara has been opened and we find her solution is as follows:
Gold STANDARD
QUICK Silver
Copper BEECH
GRID Iron
Excellent choices!

Thefirst to fall was GOLD STANDARD by Entrant #3 Arabesque .The next to fall was COPPER BEECH but not without drama! jan1956 and sarumite both as fast as each other to record the exact same time of 09.05am and pick up the bonus points.

Now comes the real drama when "new kid on the block" evsajo entered the arena as #16 with QUICK SILVER (2 points) and (!) COPPER BEECH (1 point) - but if her
entry is logged as 09.05 (2 points) totalling FOUR points.

A few entries later came in wickedtongue to nail the last link as GRID IRON.

A full breakdown of points will follow!

It's a stitch-up! I shall demand my entry fee back!

Anyhow, well done everybody but me.
Well done everyone! I'M keeping quiet!!..zilch again!
evsajo...congratulations! Glad you decided to join in.
Thanks to Barbara and Crofter!
Great fun as always!
gosh a whole 2 points! shall have to have a drink to celebrate! shall be in a state all week now.
congrats to sarumite and the others who got off the mark.
wonder if it is because barbara is a woman that I managed to guess one of the words, for as sarumite said on saturday he had never been able to read a womans mind. well sarumite you are 25% of the way there.
well done to all
jan
I'm keeping up my 100% recent record - 0 again. Congrats to those who got the points. I will keep on trying and you never know .................;
1 out of four - superbly mediocre!

Well done those who did better - I will be here again next wek!
Think I'll give up lurking in the shrubbery - the cold must have numbed my brain. That's my excuse anyway.

Well done to all especially to the 'new kid on the block' Evsajo (though I wish he/she had an easier name to spell!)
Congratulations to Jan, sarumite, evsajo and wickedtongue.
I can see that getting up in the middle of the night was not the answer and that we'd best just stick together with our postings. No more separation for the O-ices. They work better together. They get more zeros that way.
Hey, sarumite, you'd best watch your membership in the Freefall Club doesn't get revoked. :-)
Love to all and what a lovely time for a few hours on a snowbound weekend.
PS. Special congrats to evsajo (the shy one). You came out of your shell very nicely methinks.

This proved to be quite a toughie with lots of options to slesct from. The words selected by Barbar started with fairly natural choices and then finished on a word choice which was far from natural in GRID iron!

I think we have been set up by a hustler in evsajo - who claims not to be able to type and then runs off with the honours of the round!
ASIDE: Just joking evsajo well done indeed! Humour in this company can be zany to say the least.

I'd like her 4 points to stand as a target for us all! Close on her heels is wickedtongue (3 points) who is no stranger to such a vaulted position. The 2-pointers are Arabesque, jan1956 and sarumite in the chasing pack.

Behind these come 7 ABers with their first scalp (including newcomers Gravit8 and jane mark 2) AND for the first tme Jim & Jools as separate entities. On the same score we can expect separate entries in the future from Mr & Mrs Ward and Mr & Mrs Ont-ice.
I say, I say, I say. Where to people in Yorkshire skate?
Answer: Ont'ice!

All the rest of you are equal 13th (that's the good news) with ZERO points (that's the bad news).

Are we daunted ... downhearted... depressed?

Of course we are! Who wouldn't be?

See you all next week, same time, same place, same zero scores!

This is crofter signing off with three cheers for Barbara!
Without her choice of links, we could all have had much higher scores! :o)

I have just read through my posting (above) and it is littered with typos - please excuse! l've been under pressure!
The Queens Speech--so all sit down with a glass of sherry and fall asleep--as we always do!
Many congratulations to evasjo ( I expect the cheque in the post) for an astounding 4 points.
Next is wickedtongue with 3--also a great score.
Arabesque, jan and sarumite ---all on 2.--
Well done everyone, I think I need to make this harder next week!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being the setter for this week and hope that you have had a good time also. However, you are stuck with me for the next 3 weeks--so it's "Hobson's choice".
I have to say that the number of responses really surprised me--over 100--I think they call that a century sarumite!
Thanks for your support,
Love
Barbara
(NOT Barbar as in the elephant Crofter!)
Well done Barbara - I did well this week and was beaten by Jim.. I think I will have to ban him next week. It's just not on is it. :-(
Question Author
I would love to be able to say that Barbar was one of the (many) typos - but that one was intentional!
Jools-- I think we women should stick together and have a "ladies only" week. Trouble is, although I had the fun bit of setting the questions, we do need a man to do the donkey work and sort the answers--well we have to make them feel needed don't we !!!!
lol
Barbar the elephant
To Everyone, thank you for your good wishes etc.I think I am going to like it here ! Sorry Dustybun I didn't see your advice about broken arrow ?? keys, and also sorry to person who struggles with my name (forgotten your name and as you know I am useless with this computer and if i tried to go back and find your name who knows what may happen) If it helps its the 1st syllable of my grandchildrens names
1Evie
2Sam
3Joe
or you can refer to me as Kay. Hope you were all impressed with that listing!!!!! See you same time next Saturday (if not before) am going to get a cup of sweet tea for shock after todays results !!!
-- answer removed --
Well I am sure crofter would oblige if we ask nicely. :-)
Question Author
(SST) Sweet strong tea - Oh no! From one year to the next, I never drink tea!
My referred SST-remedy for shock is a Strong Scotch Totty!

Thanks for taking all the banter. I hope we've "herd" the last of the elephant comments!
Thanks rogerr for another lovely Saturday evening's fun. By the time I got there all the best choices had gone, of course!
But you've probably realised I amuse myself by trying to find 4 unique and reasonably sensible selections......but yet again 0 points, as expected.
Does that mean - Not On Your Nelly - then crofter
Question Author
Nice one! Jim and/or Jools
I can see that that typo is going to haunt me!
