As caz has said, there are many different syndromes in the Autistic spectrum.
You may well have one of these (Aspergers seems possible) but thi needs to be assessed properly ~ a visit to your GP to arrange an appointment at a mental health clinic would be wise. In my experience with my daughter, once there is a proper diagnosis you (and others) can begin to understand your difficulties ~ which can be the biggest part of the battle over.
Good luck..and please keep us informed :o)

I have a twenty two year old Autistic daughter, and feel by now, I know a fair bit about most aspects of this syndrome, but I can;t add anymore than caz and pippa have said.
Zorro thinks he may have Aspergers, and he certainly exhibits the symptoms, maybe you could exchange notes.
Just a thought.
good luck

Hi havinmysay
I have researched Aspergers for about 6 months on the net.
I would say I am classic case. I have always known I was different, i just dont have the same social skills as everyone around me, I was practically silent from the age of 13 to 18. I am cr4p at small talk so try to avoid people so I dont have to do it. I struggle badly to get people to understand what Im trying to say, and dont understand what they are saying to me. I prefer email and txt to communicate and do my nut when I txt one of my mates and he then phones back rather than texting back.
I only think logically. I tend to take things people say absolutely literally. I have taken offence when none was meant numerous times when people have been yanking my chain on here especially. I am obsessed by numbers and used to count my steps (a traditional autstic trait) when I was younger. Fortunately I dont seem to do that now as it used to do my nut in and I could not understand why I was doing it.
I am not good at persional relationships ....have loads of brief flings. I dont show emotions, or speak about them.
I do tend to prefer to be alone, despite the fact I want to settle down. I always used to play footie or tennis against a wall by myself. I just felt more comfortable than being where others are.
At work doos I have to have a few beers in a pub by myself 1st before I meet everyone, then still find myself on the edge of groups just outside them with nothing to say. I am always getting "invited in" to the groups. I try to avoid people I know, like neighbors so I dont have to say hello, slowing down if i see them ahead in the street.
I avoid eye contact and pace like a caged animal and repetetively spin objects in my hand. I lose things all the time. I am sensitive to repetitive noises...ticking clocks do my nut in especially in the quiet of the night.
