Help! I need a change of identity.

I would like to change my alias on this site as it irritates me that the y of away is missing. (Obviously, I need to get out more!) When I tried I got a response about my e mail address already being used (naturally). I tried contacting the site managers but they didn't respond. Has anyone any advice on doing this so that I can have a flashier 'name'?

How about setting up a hotmail account ? Just a thought , then you should be able to register with that address . Only downside is that you will be 'green' for a couple of weeks .

All I know is that people have had a lot of problems trying to do this, and have had to register from new.
When I registered, I didn't realise about the 'alias', so just put my name on, was thinking of changing it to make it more interesting, but after hearing of others problems doing this, I decided to leave it...besides everyone knows me now. Think that's a good thing!!??
Hope you manage to do it, if you want to, but think you will have to start from scratch.

Thank you both Bridgenut and Paulineward for your suggestions. I don't mind being the new kid on the block for a few weeks though I take the point there is some 'loss of identity' involved. I know it's pedantic to mind the lack of a last letter but it looks so illiterate.
The only thing about hotmail is having to check on both e mail sites. One is chore enough.

If you do register again, use the same name so people know who you are, but don't leave a space in between the words...make it all one.

Plugging Awa .. I really think you should keep your existing handle .. it has a certain unique character, and even more important you are an an endangered species and MUST be preserved at all costs according to the following item !!

This site is absolutely pathetic about allowing you to change your user name - I had exactly the same problem until I set up a new e-mail address. In fact this site is pretty pathetic all round and it's impossible to get an answer from the "contact us" bit.

I also asked to change my alias as it was my name and people where I work started to make comments, but to no avail, if I could change it I would notify fellow compers of the change, but the Answerbank just cocked a deaf 'un.

I agree with Sarumite - Plugging Awa is a great handle - even if arrived at by accident. Stick with it!
