dont know wether i made myself clear with my previous question !!! If my partner puts down the word, for example, king, can i when its my turn, add an S to make the word into a plural eg, kings

Yes
You can add to the beginning or end of a word providing it is a permissable word and there is space to do it. You can also use the letter, S in your example, as part of a word in the other direction and get the full points for both words, although you can't add the doubles or triples again already covered by the first word.
