Is there a mahonia available that is very low growing i.e. about 2ft.

Hi Whittemore, The one that would seem to fit the bill is ,Manoia aquifolium (Oregon grape) from north America, the taller varieties tend to be the Japanese varieties.
It is often grown for ground-cover under trees and woodland edges for colour and interest.
Pruning is not necessary but any unwanted growth is best cut back in april. Good Luck Tbird+
