Many thanks - had 2 mistakes:- "stook" for "shock" and "huck" for "duck". Feel stupid!

Oh dear, I had stook, not shock, and I have already sent Saturday's crossword off in the post. There is a stamp gone to waste.

But - I don't think there was any way of knowing it was wrong until we found out the link word - according to my dictionary "stook" fitted the clue.

There was a great deal of discussion about this over the weekend and the general concensus was Shock as confirmed in Chambers ...
Shock .... a propped up group of sheaves . Alternate word for Stook !
