Travelling alone to Melbourne Australia
Have just booked flights for a trip to Oz and just needed my mind to be put at rest on a few issues. Am ok with flying itself but have always gone with someone so am a bit nervous going on my own to Oz.
1) My flights say direct (but still have to stop for fuel in Hong Kong) what does this entail, do you get off the flight and get put in a 'holding' area or do you have to wait in the main airport and wait for a call to board as I am pressuming some people will be staying in Hong Kong.
2) Am going with British Airways who seem to have a partnership with Qantas and I have noticed flight details with same dates, times etc but one has a BA flight number and some come up with a Qantas flight number. Does this mean this is the same flight and both numbers will be called or am I getting confused?
Hope this makes sense to people, just want a a bit advice before I send myself mad worrying about all the details! Hopefully people will have got similar 'direct' flights and will be able to let me know what the journey entails. Thank you

Sometimes flights are doubled up like the one you mention. Just go along to the British Airways check out for your flight time and number and you'll be fine.
You'll no doubt notice other people travelling on their own who will only be too pleased to have a chat on such a long flight. The flight attendants are also there to answer any of your questions, so relax and enjoy it.

In HK you will get off, they will clean the plane so take your stuff with you. You will go upstairs, through security and into the departure area. HK airport is one terminal, so it is pretty big, but you will be near your gate. They are open areas, so you can wander around.
BA and Qantas code share, so each flight has two numbers. Usually, the flight number with 3 digits is the actal airline you fly (eg BA 010 is a BA plane, the Qantas flight number would be QF1234)
