Fishkill?
Town in Dutchess County, southeast New York; population (1990) 17,700. It is located 40 km/25 mi south of Poughkeepsie, on Fishkill Creek and the east bank of the Hudson River. During the late 1980s and early 1990s Fishkill experienced extensive residential expansion, as communities were developed for commuters to New York City, 105 km/65 mi to the south. A state prison is in the town.
Fishkill was first settled by the Dutch in the early 17th century. Fishkill village has many historic buildings, among them the First Reformed (Dutch) Church and the Van Wyck Homestead (1732); village population (1990) 2,000.
