Question Author
I thought Otago too

32d pivot
34a Elham . . . . Mahle(r) << . . . . Girl's name
32d if it was sportswoman doing a turn ... answer would be Evert .. to turn a bodily part + Chris (tennis player).
Question Author
thabnk you - but why pivot?
the pivot is the football centre half
Question Author
where does that come from? I've never heard of that footballing term
Pleased to find that the Chambers Dictionary gives 'a centre-half in football' as one of the meanings of pivot.
Well one of those (pivot or elham) is wrong!
Try Elsie for the girl (rev of Eisler without the R)
Does anyone else think that this puzzle must have been held up somewhere in the production process, and that Doc intended it to be published last week - Good Friday?
