I'm new to AB, but have read others' contributions with admiration and gratitude. I am clearly stupid, however, because nobody seems to have sought help with Q85, with which I am stuck.

Q: Booksellers get taken in by plausible academic on German literary tour. (6)

There are almost too many potential avenues here, and I cannot find a way into this one. Any tips or hints?
Aren't these wonderful puzzles? Many hours/days of fun, and collaboration with fellow travellers. BB.

It's a hidden word meaning a group of booksellers - a word I'd never heard of before.

This was the help given to me for this by Rhua a fellow ABer

85) is a hidden word - which I had never heard of in that context anyway.

It helped me get the answer. Think also of a type of one these famous in jellied ????.

Ah! The syndicate! No- i've never heard that one either, but it checks out. So thanks to both chakka35 and Jenny18, and indirectly to Rhua.

Now I have to go home and check Chambers for No 26 - which I think is a term used by the Clerk of the Course (or similar) at the starting tape - as per tomorrow's Grand National.

If I can assist anyone else with clues, I will try. BB.
absolutely not as to 26.
Try 'Surprisingly I am' for your first word.
26 Google satchel - forget about it being a bag.
34.
Star of Rosemary's Baby surname is the collective noun as you will see in Chambers.

Good Luck

Thank you all for guidance on 26 - but in my excitement about 85 I lost my mind! I already had 26 (amazingly) but am struggling with 67 - any clues? BB.
