my first attempt, have seen others struggle with this so thought I would give it a go stuck on 21d the early string instruments and is 19a riding or is that too easy? jan
thanks all finished, not as bad as I thought it would be, have seen some of the long threads in the wee small hours as people have tried to solve it.

I think perhaps the answers this month were slightly less obscure than they have been in recent times, as for the first time since starting it about 5 months ago I was able to finish it completely under my own steam. I do find it addictive though, and once started, it is difficult to put down until the final clue has been sorted!
does that mean I have not been as clever as I thought?
If the answers are easier this month?
I know what you mean about not been able to put it down. I printed it late last night so had to wait till after work today but very little else has been done today!
thanks again at least I can start the telegraph with a clear head before work, now the generalist is finished, will post it tomorrow

Jan, there should be a word for people who say that something was easy, when mere mortals like you and I have gone through hell to get there.
It was not easy, was it! :0)
Don't forget to include your name and address jan .. I did this once, probably because there is no printed box for these details!
... and I wouldn't say it was generally easier this month, but in the past there have always been 2 or 3 clues that I was unable to solve without assistance.
It always gives me a buzz as and when each puzzle becomes available ... roll on next month !!
yes just stuck my sticky lables with my name and address on so they know where to send the prize!
thanks for the moral support as well Aq glad not just me then. I suppose it is like other crosswrods, it helps to know how the setter thinks.
