Definitely tanto...tan = hit and to = for...giving tanto = how much, as an Italian musical term.
I put 'reest' in as that is the only word in Chambers that fits. I could see no reason for it whatsoever clue-wise yesterday morning...still can't!
I'm sure someone will clarify why/whether 'reest' is correct.
