School book featuring Tobias the cat
10 Answers
Anyone know the name/ Author of the following?
They were a series of books but the only one I can remember had Tobias the cat collecting a boy from his bedroom on a broomstick and taking him to see a witch at a place which had a door knocker that moved/spoke. It was quite a dark children's book from what I can recall.

I have just looked at the 'Tim and the Hidden People' site http://www.timandthehiddenpeople.moonfruit.com/
and it would appear to be the books in question. I have no idea where I have conjured Sabastien from....
I asked this question a few months back and indeed it was 'Tim and the Hidden People' adventures. There are loads in the series and are by Shiela McCullagh (she also wrote the house at 3 corners childrens books, with rodger red hat and billy blue hat etc) and are out of print. They appear on ebay fairly fequently and go for around 20-30 a book.
There appear to bit quite a lot of people of a certain age who want to get hold of them.
Having sumbled across this page in trying to find out about Tim and the Hidden people I have subsequently remembered I used to have a set when I was a child. Having examined my old bedroom at my mothers (which my children now use) I discovered the full set of books in perfect condition! So if anyone has any specific questions let me know
Lovely!!! I have inquired many times at to the authour of that series. Many people have looked at me as if I were making it all up. I remember having the series read to me in little school along with Spike Mulligan. The series really fascinated me. What prompted my search was watching an American sitcom called Sabrina: The Teenaged Witch. Where it has a cat in it called Salem. Now I know that others outthere share my experience with this series of stories I feel that I haven't lost connection with a childhood favorite. Cheers.
