This is an appeal to all those using the site. Could you please, please give the clues and not just the clue numbers. Lots of us enjoy helping with answers but don't buy every newspaper, magazine etc. going. Even more so for those of us not living in England. Often, when I get time to check the site (often infrequently), someone else has already answered. Imagine the frustration when no-one's answered but I don't know the question!

Well said, Christiana. Unfortunately it has been said several times before and still people post without the clues!
and I'd like it if you put what number the question is in the quiz too. I always have my answers typed on a spreadsheet but then have to go and find the question sheet to find which one you are asking
In a perfect world questioners would put the name of the crossword or quiz as the title, then give the clue or question number and the clue or question, the number of letters (if known) and any letters they already had. We can but dream!
The ideal form of question, which is most likely to bring a quick and appropriate answer, is -

Put the publication and date in the heading
Then the clue number, the clue in full, the number of letters
Finally any letters you already have, with ??'s for the spaces.

Don't bother with 'thanks in advance' as the answerer will hope that you will call back, or award stars.
I agree - especially about the thanks bit. It takes about 5 seconds to thank the people who take interest and time to answer.
I agree with all of the above. But as wideboy says it has been said before to no avail. Still we can hope. :-)

I think it's good to re-air this problem once in a while as there are always new names and they often don't know the protocol.
Well done Christiana for raising this topic again: I endorse everything that everyone else has said.
I know this may seem a silly question but I don't know how to award 'stars' and I get so much help from this site. Please tell me how to do it.

It's not a silly question Elderly. You are the first person I've ever given stars to! Actually I prefer to say something - but stars are a useful standby. When someone has answered your question you'll see on the bottom left hand side in orange "Rate this answer" and "report this answer". Rate this answer, when pressed, gives you a choice of numbers of stars to award. I've never pressed the alternative either - I hate to think what might happen, but guess it's a way of complaining.

Ignore that post!
Thank you so much Christiana. I now know how to give stars when I want to. Sorry to take so long to thank you but I have been having a few problems with my computer. Alls well now.
