Cinnamon Trust

Are any members of AB also members of the Cinnamon Trust? There is a meeting near here in a weeks time and I'm seriously thinking of going along and joining simply for the peace of mind of knowing that if our two cats outlive us they will be cared for.

My name is down as a volunteer, if ever they need me in my area. It sounds a very worthwhile venture.

I am a bit young to take advantage of the scheme, but it is always a thought at the back of your mind when you live on your own and have furry pals.

I was thinking of leaving my two all my money in trust so that my brother would take them in! :-)

A friend of my late husband is a member and has been for about five years, he has an inoperable embolism in his head and he was so worried about his litle cat if/when something went wrong with it, he said from the moment he joined the Cinnamon Trust he's had peace of mind but he didn't seem to think there were many members in this area (the North East). I think I'm definately interested in joining now and wouldn't mind feeding someone's cat or walking a dog if they were stuck, I do think it's a really good organisation for people who haven't anyone to trust with their furry families. wolf63, I think my brother might do it for a price too LOL.........not sure what sort of life the cats would have though.

Babz ~~ I would suggest you get yourself to that meeting. You will be amazed at the wonderful work the Trust does.

Being a member and giving a little of your time to help other animal owners in times of need, will give you a great sense of accomplishment. You will also have peace of mind, knowing that , should the occasion arise, you will be able to call on them for help,

Right, I'm convinced and will be there, as will my sister and possibly a friend of ours who has TWELVE cats to worry about. I gladly give time for animals, we do a bit of fundraising for a local cat rescue too, I feel so sorry for people who can no longer look after their pets or, like us, daren't take on new babies incase they out live us.

I am a dog walker for them and have a dog that I take out weekdays for a couple of hours a day to give it a really good run. I started as my dog was too infirm to take out for long walks and I really wanted to continue to walk. It is quite likely that, when its owner dies, it will come and live with me. I am very friendly with the owner as well now and often help her in other ways, shopping, trips to hospital etc. It is so worthwhile a cause and can create such a difference to people while they are still alive as well as the reassurance of their pet being looked after once they are no longer able to. Go for it.

We went to the meeting which incidentally was poorly advertised and poorly attended, when we got there there were three youngish women with 2 very young children (one of which was rolling around the floor and making a LOT of noise which made it very hard to hear, the other was good as gold) also another middle aged woman, my sister and myself, the couple who were doing the presentation and the ladies mother...that was all that bothered to attend. There was a DVD all about the Cinnamon Trust and their aims and then the couple talked a bit about it. Sadly it was a very poor presentation but we did put our names down to find out more about volunteering and should receive details by post shortly. The two sanctuaries they have down in Devon and Cornwall look lovely, it was so sad to see some of the pets that had been bereaved and how bravely they were making a life for themselves. We're thinking of volunteering to feed cats short-term in their own homes, emergency dog walk and maybe foster small animals but not cats or dogs as we have a very anxious cat of our own. We'll also help out with fundraising and spreading the word about the Trust. Also we're both going to join so our two precious boys will be safe it we both drop off the twig at once.
It seems the ideal solution, it's a pity it isn't better known about in this part of the country though (North East)

I've been accepted a volunteer now and have arranged a month long presentation of the Cinnamon trust at our local library, I really hope some more members and volunteers come forward. I thought it was a god idea when I first heard about it, now I know it's a BRILLIANT idea! :-)
