Morning AQ. If 44A has Next as its second word then I must have screwed up on my 6D, the last letter of which is L - or have I also done a 'schoolboy' howler with the last word?
hi ont-ice
6d is Le Chateliers PrincipLE
jan
Schoolboy howler indeed. I should get the strap for bad spelling.
I'm going with Bun na Eas for 4D.
I'm also now going for breakfast and then must do some housework. Will join you all later.

Welcome back, O-ice. I'm going to leave 4d open for now - no hurry for this one.

Can't say the same for The Word - has to be in on Monday. Have you done it? I still need to find 7d. Stick around East Barking to get attacked (7). I have r?a?t?d.
And is 11a Event? Think it must be, but I don't get the reference to 78.

Now I too have to go out - back this evening.
A Gaelic speaking friend tells me that Bun na Eas would mean beginning of the waterfalls. She does not know Wicklow unfortunately, so that translation does not really take things further.
found this, I know it's not what we are looking for ...but

Beag An Bun,
now Baginbun, a headland at the lower extremity of the entrance to Bannow Bay, Co. Wexford; at Cuan an Bhainbh on the south coast of the county of Loch Garman, the place where Robert FitzStephen landed.

Hi Aqua .. I have "Roasted" for 7d ... Rod (stick) around East (barking/mad) = to get attacked.

I agree with 11a Event, but not sure of reasoning now.
Hi Aq and Sarumite.
My reasoning for 11A (and bear in mind my reasoning is not always correct) is that if you spell out SEVENTYEIGHT, the EVENT is in the early part of the word.
I agree with S on 7D.
I'm stuck on 13A. Something to do with OSS?

Aq .. meant to say that I have Amarantin for 39a.
Hello everyone, I've beeen out all day, just seen all the posts. I was up 'till the early hours working on this dreaded glen but still no further forward. I too came up with "bun" and noted that it is often followed by the name of a river, but unfortunately is doesn't work in this case! Or does it??? Bun-na Var. Just a thought!!!
Can anyone put me out of my misery please. For 2d I have old line state, and for 14a boddhisatva, but they dont intersect properly !!!
Question Author
Hi teacher .. there seem to be a number of alternative spellings for 14a .. I have Bodhisattva at present, which fits with 3d Old Line State, but may change depending on final solution to 4d.
Thanks also for your thoughts merched .. it's certainly a possibility, but needs confirmation somehow? (S)
Thank you sarumite.
Well, drastic measures must be taken!! I've emailed the Irish Tourist Board to see if they can help. Stand by!!!

Good thinking merched (S) :O)
Thanks S. I missed out on the 13A. Somehow my mind got stuck with the OSS. No! Don't ask me why. But sometimes the mind gets stuck on one word and you can't shake it.
I thought I was finished but just noticed I'm missing 8D - The East. ( 7 4) I have m?r?e?g ?a?d and am presuming that last word is Land?
I have Morning Land
Ont-ice hope it is right the sun rises in the east so think it must be that
