Bay Tree care.

I was given a lovely Bay Tree as a gift for my daughter's wedding. It is growing quickly and I wondered what I need to do to take care of it and keep it in a nice rounded shape. Also can I take cuttings from it and when and how do I do this?
Please excuse my ignorance but I'm not Green fingered at all but want to care for this expensive gift and keep it healthy as a lovely momento of a wonderful day!
