I think it is probably Mate ... Mat (dull) + e

GK I should have added it is a tea from Paraguay with an accent over the E. (Can't type accents1)

Thanks everyone - I had heard of (in fact many years ago, consumed) mat� .. but brain wasn't in gear today. Thanks too pw for teaching me a keyboard trick I didn't know! Does it work with other accents? lol gk
