Stuck on a couple of clues but may have the wrong words in the first place:
17a Stepwise arrangement of heirarchy - *C*E*K* and
10d Odd characters look up at diminutive lady L*U
On the latter we though lou but couldn't see why and nowt seems to fit 17a.

10d is Lou (LoOk Up)
17a - I think you have the wrong clue.
Sorry, 17a is Echelon.
15d is Take...., not Took.....
I'll get it right in a minute! Took, not Take.
