I am looking to buy a brand new car and have come across a few sites on the internet selling new cars direct from the main dealers at a lower price!

Example sites are seatdirect.co.uk, drive the deal and newcar discount.com

Has anyone brought a new car this way and if so how did it go??

Don't know anything about those companies but my advice as always on the net is only deal with real people, especially when you are looking at spending the sort of money you will be on a new car.

Make sure you can talk to somebody on the end of a phone (always) and never send any money unless you are 100% confident it is safe. Never deal with a site which doesn't contain a phone number or postal address.

P.S. Both those sites are just link farms and offer nothing you couldn't get by searching on google.
Hi I work for a main dealer. Price is not always the reason to buy off of internet. I sell jaguars and have supplied cars to Drive The Deal.Com. Have you tried to print a quote from them? They charge you 36!!! Please also remember that some sites import cars from Europe and are not always UK spec. Also think, if you save 3000 by buying a grey import, it will be worth 3000 less when you sell it. Also, feel for the dealers; where are you going to take it for warranty work?...that's right, a UK main dealer. We do get a bit upset when people bring cars in for warranty work that have not been purchased from the dealer network, it's like "we're not good enough to sell you the car but you want us to fix it for you and lend you a courtesty car!". With a bit of work, I GUARANTEE you that you will pay no more from a main dealer than you will from a WWW. If it's a Jaguar, Volvo or Mazda you're after, then i'm your man!!!

Thanks for your answers.

I did go ahead and purchased a brand new car online from seatdirect.co.uk.

I got my car on Tuesday and am very pleased with it!

Would recommend this company for any one which was looking for a new seat (they also sell new fords), and you get them a lot cheaper then you will in a showroom!
