I am torn between COURTING or COURSING with neither really addressing all aspects of the clue!

I'm very impressed ~ and I had already solved another clue "by substitution" at 12 across!

Have you worked out how to create the missing answers ?
Many of them are straightforward because there are no other alternatives but there two others viz. prangs or prongs, scroll or stroll.
Any ideas guys ?

Sorry crofter I've just seen your explanation further down the page. It should now make it easier (!?!) to work out the two possibilities.
