Eh? H20 *is* the scientific name for a molecule of water, comprising two atoms of hydrogen covalently bonded to one of oxygen.

Occasionally you see water listed as 'aqua' on ingredients labels - that's just the Latin for water.

Did you mean, what does the H, 2 and O stand for, as Waldo says, 2 parts Hydrogen to each Oxygen atom.

But I don't know if there is a compound name for this (perhaps Waldo will) like DiHyrogenOxide or something like that.

I asked this question a while ago. Apparently there is no name for water other than water or H2O. Chemists only use these 2 names for water.

The term "water" is a perfectly acceptable and perhaps the most widely used scientific terminology for "h2o".

The term "scinetific" however is more commonly expressed as "scientific".
