I'm going crazy trying to remember a word I've known for ages which I just can't recall now that I need it. It's an adjective formed from the name of a minor Greek philosopher who proposed that only the self matters, and that other people may not even exist. It's a synonym of 'iotastic', and I'm pretty sure it begins with 's'. Extensive Googling hasn't helped. I've noticed it used quite a lot by Ruth Rendell, but it's not often seen in books or heard in speech.

Could it be solecism
If it's an adjective it could be Egotistic.
...or egocentric.
...or Solipsistic.
I think the last one is most likely. Check Wikipedia.

Thanks, everyone. It is 'solipsistic', and I recognised it as soon as I saw geo0939 mentioned it.
