I too was struggling with this - had forgotten I knew the word! When I saw JimJools' answer it reminded me of the Renoir painting, La Loge. Google Renoir and La Loge and you get a fine visual accompaniment for the clue.

(While on a literary note, shouldn't it be Earnest, not Ernest in the Importance of Being...?)
