MM Links Solutions August 2007 [Week 3]

This third (and penultimate) week of the reign of Queen Alibobs was truly glorious for all concerned and I can now reveal that the Link Words chosen by Alibobs were:

BAKERS Dozen
Never ENDING
Night WATCHMAN
GRAND Jury

This was a bumper week for scoring and all four Link Words were located by the time we reached Entrant #10 ~ that is within two minutes of the words being posted! Needless to say the Two-Minute Rule was widely used! Many ABers were well in tune with the thinking of Alibobs.

Well, last week�s frontrunner Jools was primed for action and ready for early blood! Her four well-considered predictions brought TWO First Hits with BAKERS DOZEN and NIGHT WATCHMAN to score FOUR Points. The first of these may have been a little obvious, since in the following two minutes this same link was proposed by Christiana, Jules001, & Grenmus. However, her second Hit in NIGHT WATCHMAN was a surprising result to me from both setter and guesser! No-one was able to follow through with this link for quite some time.

The next beanfeast was started by the shrewd rogerr with NEVER ENDING at 09.04 as Entrant #8 She was closely followed by sarumite & Chiefpanda ; (within the required two minutes)and each will also qualify for Two Points! In the midst of all this, jan1956 threw in GRAND JURY before setting off to work. It is not always so easy to pick off the last Link Word like this!

Who is my �Hot Shot of the Week�? Notwithstanding the fabulous performance of Jools , I must single out the success of Magyar for Three Hits out of four to come close to a full set.

Several regulars were able to add to their already good scores, but the run-away winner appears to be shaping up as Jools. Is there anyone who can knock her off top spot? Personally, I think not! We have never had such a hot favourite! There is only one week left to do the business.

This was a �glorious� game from Alibobs for her third week. I am looking forward to see what she has up her sleeve for next week ~ in the certain knowledge that Jools will not be resting on her laurels. She has been in pole position before only to be pipped at the post!

Wow, thanks crofter "Hot Shot of the Week" eh, pity that it's my first score of the month othwerwise I might have appeared on the leader board, or maybe I started with minus 15 points like Leeds !! Congratulations to Jools too, I do feel guilty being crowned HOTW when you scored more points, but I hope being crowned Queen Jools next week will make up for it (as I'm sure you will).

Well done Jools, it looks like you have an unassailable lead this month. You must have a very agile brain - it took me half an hour of meditation to come up with two matches, but far too late for bonus points.

Incidentally, I was convinced that the Cole Porter quotation in Alibob's preamble was a hint to 'night porter' but it obviously wasn't to be. Must have been a Norfolk capon!

After a good week last week a big fat zero this one. Talk about a rollercoaster.

As crofter says I have been here before only to be pipped at the post by rogerr I think. And next weekend I am away at my sons, so I hope I can get on his computer for the final week. - as they say - ' It's not over till the fat lady sings'.
