I have completed the double grid which consists mainly of quotations from W.H.Auden,but I cannot fully satisfy the solution of 'Wystan Hugh Auden' from the clues 10a,2b and 23a....
Would be centurion with nasty problem getting gold for directions in manor near Beaconsfield (6.4.5)
The 'nasty,gold and directions' are clear but the rest?

Hughendon Manor - home of Benjamin Disraeli (Lord Beaconsfield) in the Chilterns ......Chiltern Hundreds.....
manor near Beaconsfield is Hugh(en)den and instead of the en there is gold ie au.
and WH Auden would have been 100 if he was still alive today.
and the first W from " with "

Now I can confidently post it off and maybe win a dictionary (another!)

Struggled with this one too!
Hughenden Manor nr. High Wycombe (and also Beaconsfield) was home of Disraeli (aka Earl of Beaconsfield).
Replace the EN directions with gold AU to get the Hugh Auden.
No idea about the would be centurion though.....
