According to the OED and Robert Burns a Geordie is a guinea so I guess you are on the right track.
Chambers dictionary seems to be the source of these answers, so if in doubt check in Chambers!

Definitely on the right track there bibster!

thanks for that both of you now the fun begins .haven't got a chambers .
neither have i bibster so i guess we are both in ............a mess LOL :-)
Any serious quizzer/puzzler should invest in a Chambers Dictionay as so many of the compilers use that as their Bible.
I don't think you will get far with this quiz without a Chambers .
I have ten to go and in spite of a Chambers am tearing my hair out !

thanks for those kind words i am thick enough as it is so i don't think i will stand a chance on this one then.
I also recommend Bradford's crossword solver's dictionary (checking under money and coins) and the hamlyn crossword dictionary, which has a currency section.

If you can get hold of them it's all SO much easier!

I've finished now btw. Not being cocky, just want to know if any regulars found it slightly easier this time?

JD
Well done JD I found I got about 60 easily then more with a bit of of research .Some were so obvious I could have kicked myself ! Mind you they have thrown in some very unusual terms some of which I have never ever heard of .
But as I just said I am down to a last few .Plenty of time yet though ..Good Luck
By the way bibster just a friendly word of warning ..this quiz has a three month time limit before it has to be in.
Personally I couldn't care less who asks what on here or when but there are one or two who have a "thing" about Rainbow questions being posted on here so early in the day Be aware that there could be some flak !
There's nothing quite like getting the answer is there Shaneystar?? What a buzz.

I hope you have both the books I've recommended plus Chambers! It really IS easier is you are all kitted out! LOL

JD

Do you know JD I have both Bradfords and Hamlyn sitting on a shelf within arms reach and yet I insist on carting that B great Chambers around with me !!!
Get the Bradford's and Hamlyn out Shaney....you know it makes sense.......LOL

thanks shaneystar2 for the warning i wont be asking any more questions yet it was just some advice that i needed.i haven't been on the AB site for long so it is all new to me.
No problem bibster .just wouldn't like to see you ask an innocent Q and then get a load of people yelling at you !

JD I shall take your good advice ! Thanks .
Another v useful book is 'the complete Crossword Companion' by Jeremy Howard-Williams.
Wordsworth Editions.
I expect you could get it through Amazon as well.

I'm only half-way.
