Just saw someone on the Elvis show BBC1 and he remined me of this person but no-one can get him from my description. It's driving us mad - can anyone help?

Can anyone put a name to this description?

A singer probaby early seventies
Dark hair - probably a bit of a quiff
Quite good looking
I think that he won New Faces or Opportunity Knocks but I can't find his name using Google - it may have been some other talent show
Not a major top 10 recording star but very popular with women which is what makes me think he came through a talent show
I am sure that his name was Tony but not 100%

I have a feeling that his surname ended in o, as in Tony Angelo or something like that.

And you came up with Bernie Flint?
Tony Orlando? he sang "tie a yellow ribbon" early 1970's but not a UK talent show contestant I dont think
you asked the question PF? Who's babyboomer then?

Can we assume our guesses are wrong then? lol
BOO, no I copied part of babyboomers question.

Seemed clever at the time lol
tony orlando and dawn were a US group, never did any Uk talent shows. Bernie Flint fits the description as far as the looks and career go, maybe not the name, i was thinking of Tony marinaro or somethiong like that but not sure.
Its always worth throwing a name in-you never know.
did tony orlando sing a cowboy song once?
i think it might have been "rawhide"
Johnny Logan - won Eurovision 1980?

well, 1st name ends in 'ny' & 2nd's got an 'o' in it.... :o)
Petal I think "dot" is short for "dottled"...
I even thought of Tony Angelino, the character from Fools and Horses.lol
Is it Peter Gordino (think thats how you spell it?)
What about Terry Wogan?
You're thinking on Gordino the Gopher...
do you know THECORBYLOON?
im pretty well up on this subject normally
but it's just beating me on the head tonight
corbyloon there is no such word as dottled you made it up, and if you are suggesting i have had a drink, you are wrong, i have not.

Frankie laine sang Rawhide.

Johhny Logan wasn't on Opportunity Knocks was he?
