for your information i do a lot of voluntary work for my local charities .and whether you like it or not i shall continue to ask questions and give answerson this site even if it is only to continue getting up your nose.

i seem to be singled out by fiji for asking questions on this site .she or he has told me i should use my brains and i should put my money in a collecting tin instead of doing quizzes as i am always asking for answers.

Gosh, I thought part of the point of this site was for people to ask questions and for the rest of us to show off!!!

This quiz is always a bone of contention .I warned you dear !
Nevertheless I too get fed up with those who rake through threads just to have a pop at people and show off their superior knowledge .That they are sooooo clever they finished this quiz weeks ago.
We had this discussion recently and I was told off ..then I was told to grow up by another user .Mind you that user is always one of the first to row in with a sarky remark anyway so I pay no attention. This is a free site for people to ask questions and get answers .
But ..it makes you wary .Do you answer and be damned ?..Do you ask and be damned ? Do you keep out of it or do you stick up for the underdog ?
Very difficult when it's just words on a web site .
I sometimes wonder what some of these people are like in real life .Self centred paragons of virtue springs to mind .
I don't mind helping anyone but these sort make you feel uncomfortable for doing so.

Beats me why someone who reckons they finished 'weeks ago' needs to keep looking in on the subject if he/she is not prepared to give and take which is the spirit of this site.

After shaneystar2's reply I feel a need to add a degree of humility on my part. I only refer to this site in respect of Saturday's and Monday's GK crosswords and then only to supply hints or answers to other people's unsolved queries. I would hate to think there was any kind of "intellectual" snobbery or desire on this site to put others down. Ask me about the Muses or the Graces - fine: ask me about Soccer players or TV programmes - I wouldn't have a clue (or should that be an answer?). Am I cleverer - absolutely NOT - just full of a different form of trivia.

Keep asking and ignore the sarcastic ingrates.

Strix ..there is no hierarchy on here ..what one knows another doesn't .Simple as that . I know a great deal about knitting and Mary Queen of Scots but .B all about football.:))
Some people though ,have their heads firmly fixed up their own backsides .The person mentioned never answers anyone either in here or any other category without talking "down " to them .Lady Docker springs to mind !

bibster . i for one have had answers from you on many of the quizzes i have been doing ,i have had remarks made about me asking too many questions i thought thats was the point ask questions and give answers , put your armour on and dont let it get to you. that is what i did .and thank you for all your help and i will help anyone if i can. do not give in chin up and carry on cheers T

Shaneystar - agreed. Moi - knitting, nix. M QofS? Yes a bit, Rizzio, Darnley, Kirk o'Field, Babington, Fotheringay etc. The F.A - f.-a! But who needs to know more? But here will be those and they will be there to answer those questions.

Hi bibster - don't let a tiny minority rattle you. The majority are only too happy to help and be helped on this site and do both with good grace. Ignore anything else and keep smiling. This site is a wonderful example of the benefits and pleasures of pooling resources and that is exactly why it thrives. Post on!! :0)

If people didn't ask questions, we would still be living in caves hunting mamoths for dinner. (or perhaps not, how would we know they are eddible !!) Hells bells, too much red wine with dinner ( not mamoth).

anyway, you keep asking, we keep answering (sometimes we might even be correct)

If nothing else it keeps Altzimers away (yes i know that's spelt wrong, but what the hell)
