As I have said elsewhere, I have the same reservations as everyone else
"Stale bread" seems to fit the wording of the clue best, as mentioned above, but is not really standard phrase, just a descriptive term
" Daily bread" is better as an accepted phrase but I'm not convinced that "daily" fits the words " around for a long while" as well as "stale" does
Perhaps we are all barking up the wrong tree altogether and need to have a complete rethink
I realise it's "loaf around for a while" not " a long while" but it doesn't really affect the argument........unless you think of a 'round' as being a 'daily round' like a baker's or a milkman's, I suppose
I quite like float aboutas it fulfils the desire for a recognised phrase, loosely means loaf aroundand we have the possible anagram of loaf + t. Certainly cant be sure though. To use a dreadful pun, ou pays your money and you takes your choice
Just to put the cat among the pigeons - I had the gall to put Bread Dough that hangs around a while in order to make the bread, but I do bow to your better judgement.
Help!! So many different ideas/answers. Generally you know if you have the correct answer in these Rainbow quizzes and I still feel something i.e. the answer is not quite right - hey ho!
