Is it me, or has the MOS crossword been more challenging in the last few weeks? Not so many pointless Cinema clues? D :0)

I'm no fan of "Brucie", but stealing his catchphrase "Nice to see you ~ to see you (back) nice"!

:O)
Yes , much harder in my estimation.
I have found it harder of late, even difficult to look up on Google, it used to films, people and places, now it is full of obscure physics and plants.
I stopped doing this puzzle about 3 months ago, because I felt the clues were lacking in imagination, and as you say so many of the answers were film related.

On the other hand the Sun Tel GK is far more interesting although it doesn't offer much of a prize compared to the MOS GK.

Perhaps I will have another look at the MOS if it has improved as you say Dustybun. (S) :O)
Yes, a lot more challenging. Good to see an answer from crofter, I thought he/she had moved to another site.

thank you crofter - nice to be (more or less) back! Got back last night too late for the MM but got the KM - some good it did me!! Un point! ;0)

Thanks folks -I'm glad it's not just me! julesy, I don't think crofter will ever desert us!

You might well find it more interesting now sarumite. I can only afford one Sunday paper and the MOS is like a pair of old slippers - but I spend all my free time surrounded by my reference books, determinedly pre-Google (penultimate resort!), a bit like a Dickensian clerk! Aren't we lucky though, to have the best of both worlds?

I only visit AB (no other site) but I have not had as much free time of late. My big effort on AB comes with the MM Link Words every weekend. It can take 3 or 4 hours per week!

As for MOS, before I discovered AB, I used to spend upwards of two hours on Google researching answers. Once I realised that hordes of people on AB were doing the same, the chances of winning would be very slim. I must admit I prefer cryptic Crosswords to GK ones, so I now do (only) EV in Sunday's DT.

I am trying to get hold of Alan from Derbyshire to tell him my email address has changed. I don't have his surname and I don't want to ring and disturb him but my emails to him keep getting bounced back. If you could get a message to him to please ring me I would be grateful. If I don't hear from Alan by the weekend I will have to ring him. I don't want to be a nuisance.

Thanks a lot

Julie.

This is now an old thread, so I hope Dustybun won't mind if I poach it.

Has anyone else noticed that the Back button on AB is taking one back some days, instead of back to the last thread? The Recent Posts display also goes back by the same amount.

be my guest Aquagility (hope you're completely better now) although I have to say I don't understand your query. I just use the AOL back button - does AB have one of its own?

Julesy - I hope crofter finds your request for help.

Thanks Dusty, I might even have to put it in a question and incur the wrath of the quiz police whoo quite often point out that this is not a chat room !

Put it as a question, julesy. "Does anyone know how I can get hold of.......?"
As Fate would have it, I am expecting Alan to arrive at the Croft any minute now!
Thanks crofter.
I too miss those old cimema/film clues and sports questions. I could do them on Google and check in my very trusty large Collins dictionary and for the Sir L. much of it with my spell checker/Crossword solving sites such as OneAcross, Jumble and the like.

But now the questions are indeed more challenging - I think the setter has changed! I gave the crosswords up many months ago but now I have early retirement so I have time again! I only found answerbank last weekend but it's a brilliant site where we can all help each other.

The You crossword is still very easy and takes minutes to complete though.

Thanks to you all out there for answering my questions.
