You are an early bird this morning AQ - I've just logged on to do my bit and you've beaten me to it - never mind -think I might have got 1 point !! yeeha
Well, it's no points again for me! But thanks Aquagility for getting up so early just to give me that information & Seekeerz for keeping my non-existent score.

Good morning, Steff. There were not many options this week, so no need for the usual agonising before going to press.
I think I may have one or two, also. Pity I was not around earlier on Saturday!
Well that turned out to be one very busy scoring session, particularly in the first few minutes, where all the selections were matched with the first five entries and bonus points only misses by a minute - sorry about that, folks !!!

DizzyLizzie was very bizzie and picked up two lots of bonus points for Seam Bowler and Tudor Rose, giving herself 4 points.

next came slaney who also picked up bonus points for Tudor Rose.

#3 was MalcolmR who picked Solar Eclipse for 2 points plus 2 for extra matches = 4

#5 was jan1956 with Wood Sorrel, and also 2 points for extra matches = 4

Things settled down for a while until several entries came up with 3 correct matches and they were -
roslyn251254, bridgenut, Jim, Christiana, Paul 21455,
Magyar, Aquagility, joto & Cleocima

And with 2 points each were MeadowLane, teacher1, JMR27, ChrisHewit, chriss, cpfcrosiel & brizzer

Following all that came a whole gaggle of us with 1 point each - in fact all 23 of us !!!

Congratulations all round - "you've all done very well" with no apologies to Mr Grace !!!! Now I'm going to go off and deal with the leader board and come back later to post it - too many points to hand out in a hurry, so I'll see you later.

Just before I do though - sarumite I think you and I need to get a new PR strategy or something, our nice friendly approach to ash24 must have scared them senseless, I notice they never came back - what do you think we did wrong ??? I thought our combined charm [!!] would have talked the birds up into the trees !!! cheers, S.
thanks AQ and steff keep getting points this weekend wish it was the lottery!
same time next week then
jan
In addition to guessing the link words, wouldn't be quite fun, at the same time, to give what you think will be the clue for your guessed answer? viz: today Ros and Solar.
Very busy leader board still, though it's starting to sort itself this week [ I'm typing this and still mulling over Strix's suggestion about dreaming up the clues as well - what are you trying to do ?? put Kate out of her job !! ! - think perhaps it's time for you to join in the Friday night festivities in the Shrubbery, Strix !!! ]

Right, down to business:

8 points: Christiana & roslyn251254

7 points: bridgenut, cpfcrosiel, joto & MalcolmR

6 points: DizzyLizzie, jan1956, JRB, Jim,
merched, Elspeth, brizzer & Cleocima

5 points: sarumite, seekeerz, freebi2, Grenmus,
Aquagility, twosearch, MeadowLane,
gen2, eccles & Paul21455

This could/will be a very close run thing and the crown could be anyones after next weekend so strict training rules for the lot of you this week - no booze, [oh dear, that wipes out half the FNSG] and no bad eating habits - well that wipes them all out so the winner could come from anywhere !!

Have a good week, one and all, and I'll see you here this time next week [ unless the Generalist comes out before then] bye for now, Steff
Thanks Steff and well done to all the scorers- Jim is doing well on both games, I'll have to look to my metal, bit late for this month though. :-(
Hi Steff ... I am now officially in mourning after Saturday's result :0(

I think ash24 ran off to post his own threads advising all and sundry he had finished his crosswords and was available to provide answers!!! Perhaps we are too lowly for his attention?? :0) lol
Definitely NOT trying to put KM out of a job. After the week's DT cyptics I really look forward to the challenge of the GK and Herculis.
What I was really trying to suggest was not so much as trying to guess exactly what KM would put as a clue but as a bit of fun for all of us, having chosen a link word, to try and think of as outrageous or humorous or abstruse (but accurate) a clue for that word as possible!
Friday night shrubbery? What is this about? I'm not sure I'm into arboriculture or is it where Aquagility and StarSlaney et al compete for the laurels or palme d'or?!!
Best wishes

No, Strix. It's where the girls (mainly) get (virtually) stoned out of their (virtual) tiny minds.

Abandon hope all ye who enter here.

Hi [S] yes I thought the sack cloth and ashes might be out for a while, I'm sorry I missed both the game AND the replay but gather it was a 'grinder" tough luck !!

Perhaps we did overdo it a bit for ash24 - tough, another one bites the dust !!!

Strix - you don't necessarily have to be into arborculture to join the Friday night crowd - at times 'culture' seems to go out the window with that lot - have a look around 19.00 for crofter's posting on Friday night and then watch the fun !!
I get to miss out on all the fun unless I get up very early living as I do in the Southern Hemisphere, but it's worth it sometimes, just to see the "young things" at play LOL Lots
Might I just say that it's not JUST the girls who like a tipple or two on Fridays. Sarumite has been known to sink a bottle or three of the scottish nectar. :-)
I can recommend the shrubbery - against all the odds most party till late, yet are first at the starting blocks for the links and quite a few of the winners come from the shrubbery crowd, too.
Thanks Steff for coping again with the deluge of scorers and bringing us the results.
Thank your Seekeerz et al in proposing the primrose path to the everlasting bonfire (aka "The Shrubbery").
I have just read, clutching crucifix, hare's foot and garlic, the minutes for last Friday's gathering.
Whoa - not sure, as a male, that I am brave enough to play with you girls! All credit to the bravery or foolhardiness of the boys who join you in the revelries. The imbibing and other arcane practices seem to fly in the face of all known government health guidelines.
BUT - then again if I can afford a little Laphroaig or Lagavulin next Friday I, just maybe, might have enough courage.......
Strix ... I have been fighting an almost lone battle with these laydeeees in the shrubbery for some considerable time, and could do with the support of a fellow male inmate!!
