Shaneystar l am almost sure because the clues that belong to the words that interact are correct,i.e. 65a unknown author -anon- which means that the 4th letter is a o, and the top letter is in the question 50a trap, -ensnare-and so on down the line,the 6th letter is a t,in the answer initiated ,the eight letter is e as in austere,the ninth letter os l as in leave and the last letter is e as in feeble, hope youcan un derstand what l have put, it is such an awkward answer that you really need the grid and clues to see what l mean. thank you anyway shaneystar

l have done that and the 6th letter t he 8th letter is as before e and not l, l think it will take a bit more delving for me to find the answer, thank you for trying.

I don't have the grid so can only guess, but feeble couldn't be feebly, could it? Not sure how to make the T a U, though (inaugurated or something?)

To jno, although the word inaugurated seems to fit as a answer but does not fit into the grid properly,and feebly is a good answer but not really grammaticaly correct-excuse any wrong spellings-

Thank you shaneystar you are a really clever person and l admire you for your help,but tried to fit your words in but it the 4th adn 6th letters again that are the stumbling block. l am going to go and watch a film with my husband,hopefuly whilest doing that an anwser might come into my head.

Came to the problem afresh this morn ing and would like to say a great big thank you to turra and an apology to jno with thanks their word was correct, ABSOLUTELY, l did a search again on 71a made curious, and come up with INTRIGUED,which matched perfectly with the above clue, once again a very BIG THANK YOU to all those who have tried to help me in this matter
