I am happy to support .... but, not your continuous advertising - others with their charity quizzes do not - so, why should you think that you should be the exception - because of your 'friends'?
aha! another 'mafiosi' comes out of the woodwork - acerbic as ever - and, no mention of Ont-ice faux-pas!! Yes you are old enough .... but 'play fair' as for other charity quizzes ....

athenae .. I am not given to being abusive, nor to criticising AB members who post questions or quiz details on the site. On occasions I perhaps consider questions to be unnecessary, but am still prepared to answer them if I am able to. What harm does it cause?
I have been using this site for sufficient time to appreciate who is helpful and who is generally disruptive. I'm sure you would agree that paulineward is one of the most genuine and helpful members of AB.
I certainly see no harm in any member advertising as often as necessary for any of the charity quizzes, and the people organising them are prepared to give a great deal of personal time and effort in providing funds for these worthy causes!
So is it perhaps possible that you refrain from always appearing to be confrontational, and instead provide a positive attitude towards this site in the future?
Thank you (S)

hello sarumite
your post is at least not too offensive, albeit a little catty in the last paragraph:
we have a diferent point of view -
I see favouritism and extended tolerance about repetitive advertising being 'extended to this quiz', and much 'hollow' supporting by a 'group' (though through their comments above, pretending not to be inter-connected' in the way of 'auto' supporting each other ....... (it's hilarious when someone gets it wrong and 'blunders' ... ie Ont-ice overleaf ... and the wording used in each comment was so similar .....
other charitable offerings do not seem to advertise so many times .... so, why should this quiz 'extend the limit'?
this is a Q & P topic NOT a quiz advertising topic .... that cannot be disputed?
We all like to support charity (so long as it is genuine) - but why not stay within the 'norm' that has come about over the last couple of years .... a mention, maybe two, but NOT more - that it is 'excessive' compared with other charity quizzes given a mention ....
being a favourite and part of a group that has site membership going back to the early days is not a reason for 'privilege' ....

As has been said before ..email the editor with your concerns if you think the quiz is being over advertised .I don't think you will get much joy though as it was mentioned in todays newsletter ...... a bit of which I have copied here ..
"Plus, if you took part in the "The Birds and the Bs" Quiz we advertised on the AnswerBank newsletter a few months ago, you'll be pleased to know the follow up quiz Double Deckers is now available."
So ... it is obviously approved .You are a voice in the wilderness and to be quite frank I wish that is where you would stay .

athenae...perhaps you are missing the message, no matter what is posted....people on here are not offended, that is the point they are making.
You seem to spend enough time reading the posts about the quiz, please feel free to ignore them. That is your prerogative.
One concern mentioned in your post, I would like to assure you of, is that this charity fundraising is genuine, and if you would like to send your e-mail or postal address to me via the address on the quiz sheet, a copy of which you apparently have, then it would be my pleasure to send you a copy of the official receipt from the last quiz.
That offer of course goes to anybody who would like to see it.
Many thanks again to everybody who has supported this quiz and good luck to all who work really hard, as I do for the benefit of the less fortunate. If in the meantime you are getting fed up with the quiz 'adverts' please don't read them...that is always your choice.
I know from what people write to me, and what I read on here that many times the posts are missed due to the speed they leave the first few pages. People come on site at different times and have been glad it is reposted regularly.
We have all had our say and I suggest we move on and those of us who disagree with each other...just agree to disagree.
Kind regards to you all...and a very Happy Christmas.
Pauline xx

paulineward -
no problem about moving on .... and you are reasonable in your debate as well as sarumite .... unfortunately you get the nutters - Ont-ice pretending doesn't know about the quiz ....
and then the rude and offensive comment from the gutter of shaneystar2 - not a good advoacte for your point of view?

I know you can't keep an eye on everything Athenae so for your information I shall inform you - althought I don't see why I should have to - that this computer is in a central location being used by several people who are coming and going at all hours and not necessarily discussing puzzles and quizzes with each other. The user name for anyone signing on is Ont-ice which is certainly more convenient than having over 6 user names although I am sure there are some folks who do have more than one user name. I shall have to ask my colleagues which one of them posted the message re not receiving the Double-decker quiz. The fact that one of us hadn't gotten a copy seems to have upset you. My apologies if it caused you a problem.
