Sorry JulieWoolfe, I was trying to cover up my embarassment- after I'd given the answer EMCEE I had a rush of blood and thought I remembered an announcer called Toche, which also fitted the clue, so in case someone beat me to it I posted this answer while I checked it out. Should have stuck with my first instinctive answer.
