It must comply with the Five Second Rule, so well known here in the U.S., especially at most university dorm rooms. The rule is quite simple, but very profound... if the dropped food is picked up within 5 seconds of landing on the floor (or other surface) it's perfectly safe to eat... why waste good food? Appears that a corrolary to the rule is that it really doesn't matter of what the food consists. However, Appendix 1A to the rule states clearly that "... such food must not have entered any mouth prior to be dropped..." Appendix 1B does caution that food dropped on the bathroom floor is exempt from the Rule and must comply with its sister Three Second Rule...
