8down: Is there a "village near Okehampton in Devon" called Longworthy or Langworthy; this would fit the letters from the across answers, but I can't find it on the map.

Are you sure the letters are right
No chance it could be Holsworthy or Bradworthy?
What letters have you got?
There are quite a few villages to the west of Okehampton with the ending "worthy". I think grasscarp is on the right track, & perhaps this place is a hamlet which would only show up on one of the Ordnance Survey ramblers type big scale maps.
The answer is Langworthy. According to Google Maps it is where the road out of Lydford meets the A386
I found this on google, but was unable to "open" it !

Thank you all. It would seem that Langworthy is the name of a house, not even a hamlet, let alone a village.
