31)Beethovens 5th is said to be the first symphony to include which musical instrument? Am I trying to make this too hard for myself-had the piano been used before?

Don't think there's a piano in 5th Symphony (as opposed to 5th piano concerto, the Emperor) - maybe the trombone?
I think so. I'm not sure B's 5th introduced any new instruments. See Wiki - apparently it's sometimes quoted as the first appearance of the trombone AND the piccolo but earlier examples are quoted for both.

yes dundurn, I found that quote on Wikipedia too, which is why the question is so confusing!

Do you think they are looking for the instruments that are said to be used for the first time, not which are actually used? In which case which one do you choose, or has the compiler left an "s" off the word instrument in the question?
I think they're looking for 1st symphonic use. Trombone & piccolo were both used before B 5th, but maybe this was 1st time in symphony? I'm guessing.....
