memory upgrade, computer freezing, bios settings
I've just swapped by PC2700 DDR333 256mb x 2 for PC3200 DDR400 1GB x 1. The computer fires up ok and the ram is recogonised, it's just that it's taken to freezing. When I replace the old ram the computer works fine.
Checking other postings on answerbank someone suggested setting the memory FSB to auto in BIOS.
I've had a look in my BIOS and the only thing I can find similar to FSB is the following
Advance chipset features --> Dram clock/timing Control-->Dram Frequency [by SPD], you are then shown a Dram Frequency box in which are the following
By SPD [ ]
DDR 200 [ ]
DDR 266 [ ]
DDR 333 [ ]
with By SPD checked,
no mention of DDR 400.
What I want to know is should this computer run the DDR 400?
