I have recently purchased a package of softwear and leads to transfer my vinyl records from a record player to my computer. This involves connecting a lead from the headphone socket of my record player to the line in socket on my computer. The package works well except for a constant hum. It appears to be picking up this hum from other equiipment in the room as when I connect the leads to the headphone socket on my DAB radio the humm dissapears. Does anyone know of a simple supressor that can solve this problem

Well until you do post there, it sounds to me like a leads crossing problem.
The hum is coming from your record player. You can filter it out using a sound editor or shield your cables but yes, someone in technology would be able to help more.
