The British Association, every year I think, appoint someone as the Kelvin Lecturer (in memory/honour of Lord Kelvin).
Bit round-the-bushes (shrubbery?) but there you go,
i.e. totally bl**dy abstruse!
And here I thought that Kelvin was a unit of measurement for temperature !
Anyway thanks to everyone for your erudite answers and I'm sorry to be a bit late in coming back to you but have been out to a canal meeting all afternoon.
