This really is a specialised question, and I wouldn't even know where to start looking so would welcome any help please. Which RAF base on the Wash has the longest/shortest bombing range depending on the tide. Wainfleet or Holbeach have been mentioned, but no one here knows for sure. Many Thanks.
Oh dear! I don't know. I don't even know if these airfields are still operational, never mind if they had/still have bombing ranges. It's such an obscure question for me.
It's RAF Holbeach, currently used for gunnery & bombing practice by the Harriers at RAF Wittering, the Tornadoes at RAF Marham, & the Typhoons at RAF Coningsby. It was also going to be the site of Britain's answer to the Indianopolis Speedway, but Malcolm Campbell couldn't raise the money.
