What does the species name dealbata, as in acacia dealbata, mean? (7,5) I know it is something to do with whiten/silver but as it is a quiz there are no letters to help.

The other one I cant find is 'What does the name of the classic climbing rose 'Felicite Perpetue' mean?' (7,9)

I hope someone can help as I have been googling for hours.

Thanks Lady Alex. I am sure you are right and I studied french years ago!
Deablata can also mean plastered, so what about 'smeared'
Doesn't sound very likely, does it ?
Smeared thorn ?????
This quiz closes on 25th JULY. Mine has just come through the door. For goodness sake go and look in a gardening book, seaslug.
I suggest the Hilliers manual.

You have no idea the effect of your comments, do you really intend to upset someone and make them cry. Please refrain from being so aggressive in text. You dont have to read the answers.
seaslug, Go and make a cuppa and dry your eyes... AND I thought it was ME that was upset by seeing the question asked!!!
Shannee, don't worry about the answers suggested by the others. I think they might be 'red herrings'. Thanks for your support. I've opened a can of worms and thought I might be struck off.
you don't have to ask SO EARLY

this is a newly issued puzzle, just a little local fun for real gardening enthusiasts ....

there are only 20 questions .... and a closing date of 25th July

isn't it more satisfying to find the answer yourself or spend a little more time trying?

You can phone their membership number 01794 368 966 and see if they can send you a form to join their gardening club. It is free and just entitles you to some plant offers in the garden centres and a quarterly magasine sent to your home.

Sorry I havent replied earlier I have been ignoring the answers and comments to my initial question as some of them have been unpleasant.
Thanks seaslug
