Am really stuck on this one in local magazine:
Stanhope is thought to be named after these rocks. (Stanhope is in County Durham)
Have S?O?E?
Am assuming it cannot be stones!

Stanhope is supposed to mean stone valley, so I guess the answer is stones

Yes the answer would be stones, because Stanhope is famous for some stepping stones on the river there.
