MM Links Solutions June 2008 [Week 1]

This first week (of five) in the extended reign of The Dinky Duke was absolutely perfect, although it did not prove a week with high scores. Opening with a theme based on Reward for the Hard-working Student, I can now reveal the chosen links as being:

First FOOT(ING/ER)
SECOND Class
SUMMER School
PROGRESS Report

The multiple answers under "First" are covered by the "Rule of Equivalence".

There were many isolated single hits (some with bonus points) but no-one with a double hit!

This is wholly typical of a first-week performance!

The first to fall was FIRST FOOTING (quite apt really), when bridgenut opened the bidding to claim TWO POINTS. Within the two-minute window, there followed Christiana & Jules001 to qualify for the same bonus points. At the same recorded time, forward came in as Entrant #7 to claim the second link with SECOND CLASS (quite apt really) and shortly afterwards (at 09.04am) Grenmus & centrino claimed bonus points for the very same link.

Another early success was registered by beejay1124 who demanded a PROGRESS REPORT. Several surprises here in that no other person was able to cash in on this third link for bonus points. Furthermore, three links had been spotted by 09.02 (amazingly early) yet no-one managed to string two hits together. A stream of single hits followed based on these three early hits, but we had to wait until 10.47am for the final hit to be spotted.

It took Entrant #33 to arrive in the name of devadiva to sign up for SUMMER SCHOOL. (Do you all remember what �Summer� is?) Since this was the very last link and no other entrant spotted it, I nominate devadivaas �Hot Shot of the Week�!

Thank you crofter,
Think I have go the illogic behind Dinky (go play with your toys,nil points, I'm upset) Duke's link words.
So the reward with being an "Hard-Working Student" is:
that your "progress report" indicates that you are "second class" so you must attend "summer school" to take re-sit exams, which probably you fail so the only recourse is to drown your misery going "first foot(ing)".
I'll drink to that - slainte.

Thanks crofter & Dinkypuzzled even though I didn't score a single point. Just as well really since my score will be voided when I take over from crofter mid-month. At least I won't feel so bad throwing away zero points!

I so rarely trouble the scorers that it is nice to be recognised.....

By the way, I (like so many others) am indebted to crofter's sterling work and have no concerns as to impartiality etc of the scoring. Especialy given the lateness of my entry.
