hi, im having a paranoid few days for sum reason?? im20 weeks preg 2mora and have started worrying about giving birth, more so than i was the first time around.
I think i had it quite easy wiv my first my waters broke at 4.10am no pains till 7am then the pains were barable, then suddenly they wasnt lol told the midwife i needed to push and she sed she doubted it and when she checked i was 9cm, spent 10 mins pushing him out on gas & air (mmm) and gave birth at 10.50am so really only in labour with pains for 3hrs 50mins. Just wondering if this next one could be quicker? more painful? spent my first pregnancy thinking about the birth but i am spending this one thinking of complications?? surely i cant have it that easy this time when i was lucky the first? Just wondering what others have experienced? would hate being in tesco giving birth with the trolly boy telling me to push lol

I was totally exhausted because I hadn't slept for 2 nights. Second, waters broke about 5am, went into labour about 12.30pm and had him by 2, no effort at all (he weighed 8.8lb). I don't know anyone who had it worse second time around. Relax, it will be a breeze!
It's quite natural for you to worry about the second. I was anxious myself and was told that most do on their second as you know what you're in for! But like most will tell you and you will probably remember yourself, your body will adapt to whats happening and you will be able to cope beautifully!
Just remember what was told to me.... every pain in another step closer to your baby being born, so welcome the pains and they are positive pains!

i think we all worry more with the second.
i was told that second birth is usually about 2/3rds of the time the first took. i had a 6 hour labour with first but after an induction so my midwife told me she couldnt be sure id be quicker but to call hospital as soon as i felt anything.
so i woke at 12.50am with a tummy ache, called hospital at 1.20, was there at 2.30 and gave birth at 2.40.
It wasnt any more painful than the first that i recall.

I like you was very apprehensive about the second time around. My first labour was about 4 hours so i was hoping for the same and thankfully I got it. I had gas and air and Pethidine with the first but the second time around things got going really quick and didn't have time for pethidine just gas and air. Try not to listen too much about the scary stories because as you will be aware everyone is different and we all cope withthings in a different way. Whatever happens once that baby is in your arms everything is forgotten.
Don't worry about the tesco trolley boy I walked round a big warehouse buying washing powder and then went to pick up a chest of drawers when I was in labour.
Good luck.
