putting a phone in an "assumed name" for billing purposes?

iam considering putiing a land line line , in an "assumed name " - ive been told as long as i keep paying the phone bill , im just within the realms of being legal - i was told if you put a utility bill in an "assumed name" - and in due course , you dont dont pay the bill ./ its disconnected , you are actually breaking the law , and are culpable for the consequences of this practice , ie putting a utility bill in an "assumed name " ? - any onfo givers ?

If your entering into a possible scam involving the production of utility bill's then please beware.
I could have moved into my new flat, and given the gas and electricity companies a false name, carried on using these utilities and then not paid, and then changed the name again.
However, if you continue to pay in the name of someone else, then the bells wont start ringing.
I am sure that they have a process of checking the electorial register.
