Naval Slang

Which eight letter word, used as a verb, is naval slang meaning to severely rebuke? My local library is very short of books on slang or naval terms.

"Masthead" is another possibility. The complete opposite of teh keel!

The other possibility is 'carpeted'. Meaning to be on the Captain's carpet for punishment rather than the normal disciplinary mode of a Ship's officer handing out minor punishments somewhere other than the Captain's cabin. It is not generally regarded as exclusively naval. I favour verbiphobe's 'keelhaul' (very sore on the family treasures)
