No best answer has yet been selected by arkitex. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.arkitex - if you are a true competitor, try a little harder yourself first. You will always find the answer on here - but usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Nothing ventured nothing gained. No real pleasure when you are given the answers without making any effort.
Will make a note never to ask you. Thank you

Just to straighten a few things - I do appreciate that one does normally wait until the last day or so of any competition to ask for help. My own circumstances are that I only have Sunday in which to enter - for reasons I cannot easily go into. I also appreciate that some people prefer to offer help in the way of further clues - and that is normally all it takes to put us on the right track and is perfectly acceptable. I think I have asked for help on a maximum of three different occasions and have perhaps not asked in the right way - by asking for the answer and not just for assistance. I will remedy that next time !
I do not want all the answers put on a plate for me - I enjoy doing the competitions and normally manage to solve them without too much trouble. Sometimes you cant see the wood for the trees and need a jolt in the right direction - as in this case. I have never yet won a competition such as this one and dont really expect to and I am not a professional 'comper'. I do it for fun like most of us I suspect !! I seem to have got on the wrong side of Sir.prize - quite unintentionally - and I regret that he thinks I am just after the answers without doing the work. If he knew how long I trawl through google etc he might perhaps think differently - but he doesnt - and he clearly isnt very tolerant - C'est la vie !!

arkitex. I appreciate your comments and sympathise with your circumstances re: time restrictions. You have not got on the wrong side of me at all. I am very amiable and easy going. I can understand Blue Ice also in being helpful when proffering direct answers. However, as I said ealier and wideboy reiterates, we would all like to win. Giving direct answers can sometimes make it too easy for those not prepared to do a little research, and indeed clues can often be good pointers. For instance, a couple of weeks ago someone was looking for the answer to a preserved Welsh railway - rather than give the answer, the clue given on here was 'Look for something with two Fs'. From there it was not too difficult. If you are regularly entering the Times Where Was I, did you know you can enter online, right up to Wednesday evening? That is why the answers can often be revealed on here Tuesday/Wednesday. Bonne chance avec votre entre.
sir.prize - Merci - I do enter online but I am almost always away from a pC or even access to one after Sunday night. Today is a rare exception. Its just the life I have to lead and its far too complicated to go into here.
I read somewhere that the WherewasI competition only attracts about 500 answers per week - which is why I like to give it a go - but my luck seems as good as Roger Federers' yesterday !!
Rest assured that I do try very hard to do it myself and if ever I do win I hope it will be one of the occasions that no help has been necessary.
